Arthur R. Nutcher Scholarship

In Memory of Art Nutcher

1946 - 2017

On behalf of the Nutcher Family the Merced County Farm Bureau organizes the Arthur R. Nutcher Scholarship.

The Arthur R. Nutcher Scholarship has two scholarships available to Merced County high school seniors.

One scholarship of $2,000 is available to a student that will be attending the Merced College Mechanized Agriculture Technology, Diesel Equipment Technology, or Compact Power Equipment Certificate of Completion Program. One scholarship of $1,000 is available to a graduating FFA member pursuing a career in Agriculture.

Farm Workers' Children Scholarship

The Merced County Farm Bureau will be offering scholarships to high school seniors who are the children of farm employees.

This scholarship was created for Farm Employees' children simply for the fact that the funding for this scholarship originally came from the Alien Legalization for Agriculture (ALFA) program.  ALFA was specifically designed to help immigrant workers obtain legalization and when the program ended funds were then allocated to assist with the education of farm employees’ children.

The applicants must be planning to enroll at an accredited university, community college, or trade school and have GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applicants do not have to be planning to pursue a career in agriculture. Scholarships are awarded by the Merced County Farm Bureau Scholarship Committee. Their selection is based on performance, need, aptitude and commitment to their family and our community.

Young Farmers & Ranchers

This scholarship is available to one graduating FFA student and one Merced College student that are continuing their education in agriculture.
